Volunteering

Skate Canada is a very successful national organization and one of the reasons for this is the involvement of thousands of volunteers that help to keep things running. Some individuals have been volunteering for more than 50 years! There are many types of volunteer positions available and these can range from playing music at a club skating session to making policy at the national board level. Each year Skate Canada pays tribute to its volunteers at its annual meeting and awards are presented to those whose contributions have been recognized by their peers

If you're interested in volunteering, please contact Yuhui Wang, Volunteer Coordinator y4wang@hotmail.com .

Volunteer Opportunity (21/7/2010)

Dear Parents of CSC skaters

Each skater's parent is required to do 30 hours volunteer work over the year; otherwise, the volunteer cheque submitted with registration will be cashed. As a non-profit organization, our club is run and managed by a group of volunteers, i.e., the CSC board, along with the support of every individual parent. The volunteer work is essential to the quality and success of our club.

Several opportunities for fulfilling your volunteer requirement are still available.

1. Currently, music players are needed for Bronze, Silver, Gold and Diamond sessions. The dedicated music player ensures smooth playing of solos and eliminates unnecessary interruptions to coaches and skaters. Instead of staying outside the rink and waiting for your kid to finish, why don't you sit right inside the rink, and play the music? All you need is a warm jacket. If interested, please forward your name, e-mail, phone number, and time slot you prefer. I will compile the list and give it to the coaches, so they know who to expect for the music playing job. In case multiple persons request the same time slot, it will be first come first registered.

2. The club is hosting a Barbecue on July 30 and has  a variety of volunteer jobs available before, during & after the event. See the roller board, the pdf document on this page or contact me for more information.

Thanks, Yuhui
