1. GENERAL

All participants are governed by the Connaught Skating Club, BC/YT Section, Skate Canada and Richmond Ice Centre/Minoru Arenas Rules and Regulations. Each participant is responsible to ensure they have read the rules and regulations and will abide by them at all times.

Schedule and programs subject to change or cancellation.


 2. REGISTRATION

Fees are payable upon registration. Please register online . Click here for more information. 

Please note: You will receive email confirmation of registration & payment which includes your Child Fitness Tax receipt.

 3. PAYMENT POLICIES

Payment is due in full at time of registration.  We no longer accept cash payments for program registration.

A $20.00 service charge will be applied to all NSF cheques and declined credit card instalment payments.

In the case of outstanding balances (fees owed to the club), skating privledges will be suspended until paid.

Email receipts are issued at time of payment.

Fees and credits are non-transferable between skaters.

Prorating for late entry is available per the date specified on the registration form.

CanSkate,CanPower, Starskate Development, Junior Academy:
Full payment is due upon registration.

Competitive: 

For Spring and Summer sessions:  The entire payment will be put through at the time of registration. 

For  the Fall/Winter session: The online registration system provides an Installment Payment program for those who wish to pay over the course of the season.

A $20 charge will be applied to all NSF cheques and declined credit card  payments.

Please keep in mind that there are no refunds after the first day of skating, except for medical reasons, which will be considered on a case by case basis (see policy). Changes to existing registrations may be made until the end of the 2nd week of the session. After that, sessions may be added at a prorated price, but no cancellations or transfers will be allowed.

 A $15 fee (Spring/Summer) or $30 cancellation fee (Fall/Winter) will be applied.

  4. SESSION CHANGE, CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY

All requests for refunds must be made in writing to the “Board of Directors". Membership fees are non-refundable. An administrative fee of $15 (Spring/Summer) or $30 (Fall/Winter) applies to all cancellations and refunds. Credits are non-transferable.

CanSkate/CanPower: If notice is given before the date specified on the registration form, a refund (less classes taken and $15(Spring/Summer) or $30 (Fall/Winter)administration fee) will be provided. If notice is given after the specified date no refund will be given.

StarSkate Development, Junior Academy: Session changes and cancellations will be accepted until the date specified on the registration form. A $15(Spring/Summer) or $30 (Fall/Winter) administration fee will be applied to cancellations. After this date, refunds will not be considered unless for medical reasons. 

Competitive: No refunds after the first day of skating. Changes to existing registrations may be made until the end of the 2nd week of the session. After that, sessions may be added at a prorated price, but no cancellations or transfers will be allowed.

Refunds for Medical Reasons: Request for refunds for medical reasons must be submitted in writing to the Connaught Skating Club Board of Directors, and must be accompanied by a Doctor's note, in order to be considered. The skater must have missed a minimum of 5 consecutive registered days. If the refund is approved, a $30 administration fee will be applied.

Connaught Skating Club does not issue refunds or credits in the event of ice cancellations by the Arena or due to mechanical break-down, or due to unforeseen circumstances.  Connaught Skating Club will make every effort to make up for cancelled sessions through replacement sessions or by other means. Replacement sessions will be at the discretion and availability provided by the Richmond Arenas Community Association.

Connaught Skating Club reserves the right to cancel sessions with low registration. Registrants will be offered their choice of an alternate, comparable session or a full refund. 


 

5. EQUIPMENT:

Rental skates and helmets are not available during our sessions.

Helmets:  On July 1, 2011 Skate Canada implemented a helmet use policy. In order to participate in the Canskate Program, all skaters who have not achieved Stage 5 in the CanSkate program or who lack good balance and control must wear a CSA approved hockey helmet while on the ice. Helmets, hockey gloves and neck guards are mandatory for power skating. Full equipment may be worn.

6. JUNIOR ACADEMY/COMPETITIVE SKATERS:
 

The following fully completed forms must be submitted when registering:

  • Volunteer Form and post dated cheque for Volunteer Fee (Fall, Winter and Spring). Every family purchasing 3 or more days, or 5 or more sessions, must complete 30 hours of volunteer time per skating year.
  • Parents' and Skater's Code of Conduct form  

Competitive Skaters MUST be registered with Skate Canada by August 31, therefore registrations need to be received by the club no later than August 25, of any given year.

 

Fees for freeskate include ice costs only. On and off-ice Development, spin, group and theory sessions include coaching fees. Coaches will invoice all participants for their individual lessons. Private lessons must be pre-arranged with the coach of choice prior to booking ice sessions.

 7. VOLUNTEER POLICY

30 hours of volunteer time are required from each family when 3 or more days, or 5 or more Starskate/Competitive sessions a week have been purchased. Hours are to be completed by August 1, 2012. A separate cheque for the Volunteer Fee, which may be post dated August  1, 2012, must be submitted at the time of registration (Fall/Winter or Spring sessions). The cheque will be cashed only if the volunteer hours are not completed. Please see Volunteer form & webpage for more details.

 

 


 8. SESSION REQUIREMENTS:

Bronze :                      Single Loop Jump 

                                    Sit Spin (3 revolutions)

 

Bronze Plus :             Single Axel

                                    Change foot combination spin (CCoSp)

 

Silver :                        Double Salchow

                                    Double Toe Loop

                                    Flying Camel

 

Gold :                         3 different double jumps

                                    1 double/double jump combination

 

Diamond :                  5 consistent double jumps

                                    3 different double/double combinations jumps

                                    **two of which need to include a Double Flip or Lutz

 

Top Flight :                Consistent Double Axel

                                     *must also be demonstrating a consistently high standard of execution 
                                       in skating skills, performance skills, and work ethic on all freeskate
                                       sessions and group development classes

 The Director of Programs will have the final approval of all promotions within the Connaught Skating Club StarSkate/Competitive structure. Any movement within the programs that does not adhere to the published criteria may be at his discretion based on membership situations, a skater’s competitive record or overall development.

9. BUY-ONS:

Must be a current Skate Canada member to use a buy-on session. Buy ons permitted only if maximum number of skaters not on the ice. Bronze 30; Bronze/Silver 26;Silver 26; Silver/Gold 24;Gold 20; Gold/Diamond 18; Diamond 18, Diamond/TF 16, TF 16. There is a 10 minute waiting period before buy ons are permitted on fully registered sessions. Skaters must obtain permission to buy on from a Club coach. Buy-on fees are posted on rollerboard. Buy-on book and payment box are located on the music box inside the rink. Record name and pay fee on buy on sheet prior to taking the ice. Session requirements apply to all buy ons.

Rates as of June 2010 (subject to change) :

Freeskate:                               

(3/4 or 1 hr session)    $10 

(> 1 hr session)           $12                                      

                   

No Buyons for Group sessions.

Exceptions are at the discretion of the Director of Skating, in which case the following rates will apply (subject to change)   

(1/4 hr session)           $4

(1/2 hr session)           $8                      

(3/4 or 1 hr session):   $15

 

PAYMENT DUE AT TIME OF BUY-ON!!!

Non-club members: Add $2 to listed rate, must pay cash.

No partial session purchase. Buy-on rate must be paid for entire session, regardless of time actually skated.

No buy-ons for off-ice classes. Exceptions are at the discretion of the Director of Skating.

10. PRIVACY POLICY:  

 

We respect your privacy and are committed to maintaining your confidence and trust. Accordingly we maintain the following privacy policy to protect personal information you provide online. Any information you give to us will be held with extreme care and will not be used in ways that you have not consented to.

If you choose to email us and provide personally identifiable information about yourself, we will not use the information for any purpose other than to respond to your inquiry. We do not sell, rent, loan, trade or lease any personal information collected on our site. Our web site logs are not personally identifiable and we make no attempt to link them with the individuals that actually browse the site.

Our web sites track information about the visits to the web site. For example, it compiles statistics that show the daily number of visitors to the site, the daily requests received for particular files on the web site, and what countries those requests come from. These aggregated statistics are used internally to provide better services to the public and may also be provided to others, but again, the statistics contain no personal information and cannot be used to gather such information.

On our web site, you may find links to third party web sites. Please note that we are not responsible for the privacy policies or content on third party sites. Therfore, it is recommended that you read the privacy policy of third party web sites for your information.

11. PUBLICITY RELEASE

 

By signing the registration form or completing the online registration process, the skater (over the age of 18 years) or parent/guardian1 expressly grants to the Skate Canada/Connaught Skating Club the right, privilege and license to use the the skater's picture or likeness in any photograph, movie, video production or any other forms of media publication and to use the skater’s verbal or written statements or declarations for the purpose of publicizing, fostering and promoting the Connaught Skating Club’s programs or for any other purpose in furtherance of the Mission statement2 of the Connaught Skating Club and/or to encourage financial support for the club3.

 

1 In signing the parent or legal guardian represents that consent has been obtained from any other parent or legal guardian who has custodial rights to the child.

 

2 Mission statement:

The Connaught Skating Club is dedicated to providing the highest standard programs and opportunities that will optimize our skater’s potentials and provide avenues to their attainment of their personal goals. We are in pursuit of excellence at every level of development within the sport of figure skating in offering our programs as a direct service to the community.

 

3 Permitted use includes the right to copyright any such publication and to distribute the publication to any persons, groups, agencies, institutions or other third parties Connaught Skating Club determines is promotional towards it’s stated purposes, including fundraising.
