  4. SESSION CHANGE, CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY

All requests for refunds must be made in writing to the “Board of Directors". Skate Canada Membership fees are non-refundable and are not prorated. An administrative fee applies to all cancellations and refunds. Credits are non-transferable.

CanSkate/CanPower: If notice is given before the date specified on the registration form, a refund (less classes taken and an administration fee) will be provided. If notice is given after the specified date no refund will be given.

StarSkate Development, Junior Academy: Session changes and cancellations will be accepted until the date specified on the registration form. An administration fee will be applied to cancellations. After this date, refunds will not be considered unless for medical reasons. Prorating for late entry will not commence until the 3rd week of the session.

Competitive: No refunds after the first day of skating. Changes (switches) to existing registrations may be made until the end of the 2nd week of the session, as approved by the registrar. After that, sessions may be added at a prorated price, but no cancellations or transfers will be allowed. Prorating for late entry will not commence until the 3rd week of the session. No refunds for prepaid buyons.

Refunds for Medical Reasons for CanSkate, StarSkate, Junior Academy and CanPower skaters: Request for refunds for medical reasons must be submitted in writing to the Connaught Skating Club Board of Directors, and must be accompanied by a Doctor's note, in order to be considered. The skater must have missed a minimum of 5 consecutive registered days. Refunds will not be considered for skaters who miss only some of their registered sessions or use drop in ice. If the refund is approved, an administration fee will be applied, and will be calculated from the date of the Doctor's note only until a return to any level of participation in any club programming. Refunds will be issued in the form of credits and are non-transferable.

Refunds for Medical Reasons for Competitive Program skaters: The intent of the policy is to provide refunds only in the infrequent case of prolonged and sustained medical issues that completely prevent a skater from skating at all, such as a fracture or concussion, or serious illness  etc.. The policy is not designed for the short term absences for aches and pains experienced by most higher level skaters; all skaters miss sessions from time to time.Request for refunds for medical reasons must be submitted in writing to the Connaught Skating Club Board of Directors, and must be accompanied by a Doctor's note, dated within 30 days of the onset of the skater's injury or illness, in order to be considered.

The skater is eligible to be considered for a medical refund after missing a minimum of 20 consecutive registered days. Speical events and scheduled cancellations are not included in the minimum. Refunds, if approved, will be calculated from the first registered day after the minimum has been reached until a return to any level of participation in any club programming, as well as drop in city ice. For example, if a skater misses 30 consecutive registered days of skating during the Fall-Winter season, the skater is eligible to 10 registered days' refund less an administration fee. Refunds will not be considered for skaters who miss only some of their registered sessions or use drop in ice.  Refunds will be issued in the form of credits and are non-transferable.
Policy change effective Jan 27 2015

Other: Connaught Skating Club does not issue refunds or credits in the event of ice cancellations by the Arena or due to mechanical break-down, or due to unforeseen circumstances.  Connaught Skating Club will make every effort to make up for club-cancelled classes/days through replacement classes/days or by other means. Replacement classes/days will be at the discretion and availability provided by the Richmond Arenas Community Association. If a skater misses a registered class/day, they may not skate on a different session to "make up" for missing a session. Any skater who has not paid for a session must pay the posted buy-on fee for the entire time, regardless of time skated. Buyons are due before skating. Failure to pay buyons within 48 hours of skating results in double fee charges.

Connaught Skating Club reserves the right to cancel sessions with low registration. Registrants will be offered their choice of an alternate, comparable session or a full refund.
