The Connaught Skating Club is dedicated to providing the highest standard programs and opportunities that will optimize our skater’s potentials and provide avenues to their attainment of their personal goals. We are in pursuit of excellence at every level of development within the sport of figure skating in offering our programs as a direct service to the community.
Junior Academy
Prerequisites: Participation within the program is by invitation only, with auditions and assessments conducted throughout the year.
Ages: 4 to 7 years old
Junior Academy
is the next stage of development after Canskate, for skaters 4 years to 7 years old who demonstrate enhanced ability & potential to pursue competitive skating. This program requires a minimum 2 day a week commitment, taught by Connaught’s exceptional Skate Canada certified coaches, and introduces skaters to the foundations of figure skating through two 45 minute on ice group classes and two 30 minute Dryland classes. Girls are expected to wear a skating dress/skirt or fitted athletic clothing, with hair tied back or in a bun. Boys are expected to wear form fitting pants and jackets.
Skaters are encouraged to supplement this program with JA STAR (private/semi private lessons) when invited by the Junior Academy Coordinator.
Participation within the program is by invitation only, with auditions and assessments conducted throughout the year. Skaters previously registered in Jr. Academy and those skaters auditioned by the coordinator will be given priority towards registration. All Parents/Guardians are responsible for their children while at the arena. Do not leave your children unattended. The Club is not responsible to provide child supervision.
Connaught SC offers 4 sessions of Junior Academy per year: Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer.
